Our congregation seeks to nurture children and adults to
experience the grace of God, learn the Gospel, and grow
in faith. Our church is "small enough to feel at home."
The "little" church does big work by putting faith into
action through mission initiatives in the local
community and beyond

"Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at
home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when
you get up."
(Deut. 11:19)

someone took and sowed in his field; it is the smallest of all
seeds, but when it has grown it is the greatest of all shrubs and
becomes a tree…” -Matthew 13:31-32

Falling Waters Presbyterian
Church is a PC(USA) congregation that believes we are bound
together by a common faith and a common task as part of the
one, universal church. We believe that the Bible is the
inspired Word of God. We believe in the Trinity in which the
grace of Jesus Christ has first place as the foundation of
our knowledge of God’s sovereign love and our life together
in the Holy Spirit. We celebrate two sacraments: Baptism and
the Lord’s Supper–Holy Communion. We are committed to the
church’s mission and see ourselves as part of the body by
which Christ continues the blessing of His earthly ministry.
Presbyterians traditionally
emphasize that Christian faith and life are not rigid, but
are always being reformed by God’s word. Our pastor, the
Reverend Dr. John W. Cushwa is available to answer questions
or talk with anyone. Please call the church at 304-754-8211
or e-mail us at fwpcusa@gmail.com. Visit our church’s
website for additional news: www.fwpc.info.
Brief History
Resting at the lowest end of the
Shenandoah Valley, Falling Waters Presbyterian Church was
organized in 1745 just south of the ford of the Potomac
River at Williamsport, MD. In 1796 the place of worship was
moved from the bend of the Potomac to Spring Mills. The
present brick structure was built in 1834 after a fire had
destroyed the wooden edifice.
Our congregation includes
students, parents, babies, elder generations, and families
of all types of diverse interests and experiences. We
believe the Good News of Jesus Christ; therefore, God calls
us to welcome all in the name of Christ and to share this
good news with everyone.
As disciples of Jesus Christ, we
worship a knowable God and study the Bible’s witness to
God’s saving work in our lives and in the lives of others.
As a result, we experience in our relationships and personal
lives a love that heals, a hope that sustains, and a
forgiveness that brings peace.
We are Christians–living,
learning, sharing, and growing within a fellowship unique in
the world. We invite you to join in our family and in our
journey toward our fulfillment and spiritual joy in Jesus
Christ.
We are a congregation deeply
committed
to a vision of God's openness
to all people in our wonderful diversity, to the spiritual
nourishment of both the head and the heart, and to making a
difference in our community and world. We invite you to
worship with us, or simply stop by to view our New England style
sanctuary, here you will find friendly people, a place of
hospitality and spiritual nurture.

Church Mission Statement
Jesus taught us “to love the
Lord your God with all your heart, with all your mind, with
all your soul and with all your strength, and to love your
neighbor as yourselves.” We, as members of the body of
Christ and Falling Waters Presbyterian Church, strive to be
an extended family reaching out to one another, our
community and the world. In accordance with the constitution
of PC(USA), we endeavor to achieve:
“The great ends of the church
which are the proclamation of the gospel for the salvation
of humankind; the shelter, nurture and spiritual fellowship
of the children of God; the maintenance of divine worship;
the preservation of the truth; and the promotion of social
righteousness; and the exhibition of the Kingdom of Heaven
to the world.”
In offering ourselves to this
sacred mission, we will show the way of Christ so that the
community and the world in which we live may learn “to do
justice, love mercy, and to walk humbly with God.”
- - Micah 6:8
